What Not to Flush or Pour Down the Drain

No "flushable" wipes, paper towels, feminine products, diapers, dental floss or cat litter.
No grease, oils or fats.
No paints, solvents, pesticides or large amounts of harsh cleaners — they kill the bacteria the system relies on.
Go easy on the garbage disposal; it adds solids that shorten pumping intervals.
Spread out laundry loads and fix running toilets — too much water at once can flush solids into the field.
